When the unthinkable happens and your child is diagnosed with a life-limiting condition, the pediatric team at Hinds Hospice will be there for you and your child.
When you look at a sunflower you see that it takes many petals forming together to make a flower. The same may be said about hospice care. Physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, various therapists, volunteers and home health aides work together with your family to provide support for the care of your child. |
If you choose to take your child home with hospice care, we can provide:
· Intermittent visits to your home from the trained pediatric hospice team.
They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are just a phone call
away.
· Teaching about caring for your child’s physical conditions and what to expect next.
· Support for your child’s and for your family’s emotional needs.
· Guidance for care of your other children.
· Assistance with spiritual and cultural needs.
· Assisting with planning for optimal quality of life for your child and for your family.
· Information about any plans you may need to make.
· Bereavement support for at least one year following the death of your child.
Hinds Hospice also has an inpatient home in Fresno where loving, around-the-clock nursing care and family support is provided in a home like setting.
It is impossible to make all of these decisions without a great deal of information. During your stay at the hospital, your doctor, nurse and social worker can ensure that all of your questions are answered. There are many people to help you but please recognize that only you can make the right decisions for you and your family. Be confident that you will make the right decisions for your child and for
your family.
It is important to remember that you will be supported in whatever decisions you make!
