Meet Eric Klimes, MBA
the Chief Executive Officer at Hinds Hospice

Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management/Healthcare Administration
Masters of Business Administration
Eric Klimes comes to Hinds Hospice from Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was Chief Executive Officer. During his tenure, he managed the organization to assure staffing to meet the expanding community need. Klimes held positions as an Executive Director and Regional Executive Director at multiple hospice organizations. Previously he was at the helm of Hospice of Washington County in Hagerstown, Maryland where he received the “Hospice Honors” award for outstanding family satisfaction scores, “Non Profit of the Year” award, and “Outstanding Community Partner Award” from the Washington County, Maryland Department of Social Services.
Eric Klimes became an advocate of hospice care after helping his grandmother during the final days of her life in 1985. She experienced complications following a surgery, and eventually a ventilator was all that was keeping her alive. After a distressing nine days with more questions than answers, Klimes’ mother made the difficult decision to discontinue life support. Though Klimes knew it was the right decision for his grandmother, he also knew there had to be a better way to help families facing the death of a loved one.
That experience was the spark for a career in health care, including more than 17 years leading hospice agencies in Maryland, Iowa, Indiana, and now Hinds Hospice in Fresno, CA.
When speaking of the goals of hospice and palliative care, it is evident the experience at his grandmother’s bedside ignited a passion for providing family-centered, compassionate,
end-of-life care. “The goal of hospice is to ease suffering for not only the patient, but for the entire family,“ says Klimes. “Hospice is health care, but a huge component is grief support and education for the family. We help families navigate during a difficult time. The team at Hinds Hospice is exceptional, and I am excited to continue the great work they do in the Central Valley.”
Klimes received his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management/Healthcare Administration from Columbia Union College and his Masters of Business Administration from Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, Maryland, and is retired from the U.S. Army. In addition, Klimes was in the United States Army Reserve as an Automated Logistical Specialist for 13 years.
