WHY ARE WE GIVING THIS AWARD? The Spirit of Compassion award recognizes an individual who helped during an end-of-life journey. We were inspired to create this award by our wonderful volunteers and the amazing family caregivers we assist. We know end-of-life care creates a rollercoaster of emotions and imposes a significant strain on family and friends. Therefore we want to pay tribute to those who make a difference by offering end-of-life care, moral support, financial assistance, respite relief, errand running, etc.

WHEN WILL THE AWARD BE PRESENTED? The award will be presented at our 30th Anniversary Hats Off to Hospice Gala on Friday, September 16, 2011 in Fresno.

WHO CAN BE NOMINATED? A family member or special person who helped during an end-of-life situation can be nominated. Eligibility is not limited to families served by Hinds Hospice. Note: Hinds Hospice employees cannot be nominated, but Hinds Hospice volunteers are eligible for nomination.

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS? The deadline to return nomination forms is Friday, July 29, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. You may mail, fax, or email a completed nomination form to:

HELP SPREAD THE WORD! Spirit of Compassion chairperson Karen Bowser is leading the initiative to spread the word about this exciting award. You can help by distributing flyers to friends, groups, churches, etc., send emails to your contacts with award information and a link to this page, post to your Facebook page or other social networking sites, and most importantly, by word of mouth.

PLEASE NOTE: The deadline to turn in nominations has now passed and we are not accepting any more nominations. The selection committee has received some wonderful nominations and will be meeting mid-August to make their selection. The recipient will be announced after they have been notified later in the month. Check back for updates!
